Picked up packets late last night at Dukes...WATCH IT CORKY!  No sneaking up behind me while I'm opening the drop box! 

By the time I left Clicks last night, my team was well on their way to calling a cab to take them home!  It was John's G's Birthday and the shots and bombers seemed to be appearing all over the place!  We really had a great time and we love playing the "Clicks Chicks" - they play to win and they party the whole time!

Richard Schmidt Jr. passed over the weekend from a long and brave battle with cancer, and my heart goes out to the family for their loss.  Richard was one of the nicest, cordial, most upbeat persons I had the privilege of knowing - I know I will miss him - along with thousands of others. 

Richard captained a team who played out of Skip & Jan's on Tuesdays for many, many years and everyone loved to play them.  All of us knew we'd have a challenging match and a good time too!

Richard Schmidt Jr. will be greatly missed.

 

This post isn't really part of the "Sportsmanship" blog - but this may a good place to talk about the new "Masters" - "Nationals" format for 2009.

This week in the packets each player received a letter explaining the new proposed format for the 2009 year-end Masters/Nationals.  I hope everyone takes the time to carefully read through it - I know it's pretty wordy, but we wanted to cover as much as possible to minimize questions that you may have.

If you did not receive a letter, please e-mail me at gcuebilliards@cox.net and I will forward one to you.  I only placed 5 copies in each packet, so I know there are players who may not have played this week who would like to review the proposal.

I, personally, am very excited about the change and I hope you are too.

If you have a chance to pick up the billiard publication, "The Break," the story and photo's of the teams who are going to Nationals are featured.  This publication is not only for local news, but it spans all of the western U.S. and can be found at several pool rooms - I noticed it at BullShooters and Skip and Jan's to name a few.
